Price Comparison Unique Features Market Position Value Proposition
The 19,999 yuan (around $2,800) worth of Huawei’s flagship makes the iPhone 16 Pro Max comparatively inexpensive, but the Mate XT Ultimate is special within a phone demand full of similar devices.
The Mate XT Ultimate estimates a fairly normal 6.4 inches when fully tucked. Its single-fold configuration improves the screen size to 7.9 inches, 0.3 inches bigger than an outstretched Z Fold 6. Huawei Overcomes Challenges to Launch Tri-Fold Phone: A Journey from Vision to Reality
Huawei Executive Director Richard Yu told the Chinese giant had lived”struggling for five years” to bring the trifold model into display, due to the technical challenges arising from the screen and hinge. The company also encountered reliability issues that it needed to address, and US sanctions on the firm and chip exports have created challenges. Ultimately, though, Yu told Huawei has “turned science dream into a fact.”
As for the remainder of the phone’s specs, it includes 256GB of internal storage that users can expand for an additional cost, 16GB of RAM, a 50MP primary camera, 12MP ultrawide and periscope cameras, and a 5,600 mAh battery. Critics believe it uses the Kirin 9010 5G SoC, an inheritor to the Kirin 9000S seen in the Mate 60.
Display Features Keyboard Choices Connectivity
The show features a 120Hz 3K LTPO OLED display with a 92% screen-to-body ratio. There’s an optional folding keyboard, and it can use satellite connectivity when out of cell web range. Like all current handsets, there’s also a slew of AI components for the likes of photo editing and translations.
The Mate XT Ultimate is considered 298 grams (around 60g better than the Z Fold 6). It gauges 12.8mm thick when folded, which is just thicker than Samsung’s most delinquent foldable.
Huawei Mate Over 4.9 Million Pre-Orders in China Global Release
There have already been around 4.9 million pre-orders for the Mate XT Ultimate in China. It’s ambiguous whether the tri-folding handset will ever be removed outside of the Asian country, but it seems doubtful.
The history of tri-folding phones extends back years. In 2010, long before foldables joined the market, Qualcomm patented a plan for a folding device with three screens. TCL unveiled a picture tablet in 2020 that folded three times, and Samsung ushered off a similar prototype tri-folding handset in 2021.
